Creating a Linux-based EC2 instance
- Login to AWS console, make sure you are using North Virginia as are going to this region throughout the Labs
- From service menu go to EC2 service
Click on Launch Instance
- Now select AMI for create this EC2 instance, we would using below highlight AMI for this Lab
- For free tier usage, AWS provide t2.micro type instance so select the same
Click Next: Configure Instance Details
- In below screen, leave everything as default
Click Next: Add Storage
- Leave default
Click
- We can add tags to identify and label the EC2 instance, its a best practice to tag your resources
For this Lab, lets use Name as key and MyFirstEC2-linux as value
Click Next: Configure Security Group
- Security groups are just firewall, for this lab let’s select existing security and chose default security group
Click Review Launch
- Click Launch
- Since this is our first EC2 instance, we would need to create new key-pair for SSHing into our EC2
- Give it a name, for being on same page let’s name it as FirstKeyPair
Then Download the keys, click on Download Key Pair
Next click Launch Instances
- Click on Instances (left-sidebar)
We can various details related to EC2 in Description tab
