Running Prometheus as a Container
- Create a config file,
prometheus.yml
global: scrape_interval: 15s # By default, scrape targets every 15 seconds. # Attach these labels to any time series or alerts when communicating with # external systems (federation, remote storage, Alertmanager). external_labels: monitor: 'codelab-monitor' # A scrape configuration containing exactly one endpoint to scrape: # Here it's Prometheus itself. scrape_configs: # The job name is added as a label `job=` to any timeseries scraped from this config. - job_name: 'prometheus' # Override the global default and scrape targets from this job every 5 seconds. scrape_interval: 5s static_configs: - targets: ['Prometheus:9090']
- Above file we are also making sure that Prometheus also monitor’s itself
- Now lets run it as docker
docker run \ -p 9090:9090 \ --detach \ --name Prometheus \ --network devops \ --volume $PWD/prometheus.yml:/etc/prometheus/prometheus.yml \ prom/prometheus
