Service endpoints and private endpoints
A service endpoint is used for establishing connectivity between a vnet service to an Azure PaaS service.
A private endpoint also requires a Private IP. It is available free of cost.
A private endpoint establishes connectivity between an Azure VNet service and azure PaaS. It does not require a public ip. The communication takes place over a secure private link within Azure network. This enhances, both, security and performance.
Azure endpoint and private link service Azure PaaS services, normally, have an internet endpoint. However, communication between PaaS and Azure services, running in vnet can be enabled by creating private endpoints on both the side. The private endpoint creates a network interface inside a subnet of a vnet. Any service, in side the specific vnet, can communicate with the PaaS service over a private link. All communication over private link happens with private ip and over azure backbone. This enhances, both, performance and security.
Private link service
Azure private link service helps us in exposing any service with SLB as a front end for external customers and partners who will consume such services. Since service is exposed over private link, it gets all the benefits of communication over a private link service, as explained earlier.
